SECOND COLLECTION

Next Sunday, September 12 - St. Martin’s Guild.

The proceeds of this collection will help the victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan, which has so far caused the deaths of 1,600 people & affected 13.8 million people.

Development and Peace is contributing to the emergency response organized by Caritas Internationalis & its local partner, Caritas Pakistan to bring much-needed aid to those affected. R.C.I.A.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) will be starting on Wednesday, September 22^nd at 7:30pm in Mtg. rooms 2, 3 & 4. The first night is for registration. You can also pre-register at the back of the church after Mass on Sept. 12. If you or someone you know are interested in becoming a Catholic, are Catholic and would like to learn more about your faith, or have not made your First Communion or been confirmed, then this program is for you. There is no registration fee & materials are provided. If you would like to serve the Lord by journeying with someone who is going through RCIA as a sponsor, please call Angela McCormick at 604.596.4004.

BAPTISM CLASS

Baptism class will be held next Sunday, Sept. 12, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm in Mtg. Rooms 2&3.

It is recommended that you take this course well in advance of the birth of your child. Godparents are encouraged to attend.

WORLD YOUTH DAY

Young adults between the ages of 18 – 35 years, desiring to accompany Fr. Nelson Santos for the pilgrimage to the World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain in August 2011, are requested to register their names at the Parish office with a cheque payment of $300.00; this amount is refundable. Last day for registration is Monday, Sept. 20^th. All those who register should attend a meeting on Sept. 20^th at 7:00pm in the Gathering Area. LAY APOSTLES

Thurs. Sept. 9, Mtg. room #4 at 7:30pm. After the rosary and a discussion on Jesus’ Sept. message, we will watch a DVD presentation by Fr. John Corapi on Mary, Mother of the Church. BACK TO SCHOOL

Immaculate Conception School will re-open on Tuesday, September 7. Students are to report for class at 8:50am. Dismissal on Tuesday will be at 12:00noon. The IC school bus will not be operating in the morning, but will be bringing students home at 12:00noon.

PREP NEWS

To parents of children attending public school, PREP registration (religious education for Catholic students attending public schools) is now available by phone at 604.596.4004 on Tues-Wed from 1pm – 5pm. Forms are also available at the PREP & Parish offices. Catechism classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7:00pm. If your child is not registered by the first day of class, last minute registrations will take place at 6pm, Sept. 14.
